How to Get Involved

We are always interested in hearing from people in the community who enjoy being on stage or have a desire to "get their feet wet" in acting. We are also looking for pianists and other musicians for future musical productions. If you dont want to act on stage but want to be involved, come to a general membership meeting every third Monday at 7:00pm or watch for audition dates for upcoming shows so that you can speak with the director. Behind the scenes personnel are a definite need especially with a large cast. Please call us at (352)493-ARTS or email us at suwanneevalleyplayers@gmail.com if you are interested. Listed below are a few ways to get started:

On Stage

Actors

Anyone who enjoys acting is welcome to audition at any of our shows. We are a community theatre which means that regardless of how much or little training for stage production, we will work with you and teach you what you need to know for live theatre.

Singers

Singers (and musicians) are welcome as we have musicals each year to participate in.

Announcers

This role may be for you if you are not interested in memorizing lines and working out a role, but enjoy speaking in front of people.

Behind the Scenes

Backstage Crew

Any backstage manager will tell you how valuable reliable people are backstage for props ready at the precise moment, sound and/or lighting effects, and moving massive amounts of scenery and furniture in under 60 seconds.

Hospitality Crew

If you are not yet sure how you fit into to a theatre troupe, consider our hospitality staff. They are simply individuals like yourself who ensure that patrons and visitors feel welcome and comfortable for shows.

Band/Orchestra

Every time a musical is considered, one main factor is who will accompany us. The recommended instruments range from piano and violin to electric guitar and drums.

Leaders

Leaders are simply people like you who believed in someone or something strongly enough to roll up your sleeves and do what was needed in front of you. Many have learned how to be good leaders by getting involved in groups like SVP and taking on responsibilities as they grow.

In the Community

Contributors

Thank you for all that you do to enable us to continue for over 25 years presenting live theatre for the tri-county area. We could not do it without you. We appreciate your support!

Friends

You are the unsung heroes who spread the word about our shows through conversations in the community. If you don't see fliers in your hometown, you can even stop by the theatre to pick up some to distribute or post in your community. Thank you for all that you already do.
